The Turbo Crank workouts were developed by Joe McNamara, a cyclist, triathlete with over 20 years experience using indoor trainers. He knows what it's like to ride indoors and get nowhere. His structured workouts will help keep you motivated and in the end you will get the most out of your indoor trainer.

Tom Gakes

Tom GakesTom Gakes is a Dutch elite amateur cyclist who rode for Team Woest in the past 3 years. Next year he will lead the new Dutch team of HRTC, and will compete with the top riders in Holland. Tom also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Movement Sciences, and is currently a Master student at the Faculty of Human Movement Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. On top of that, Tom is an ambassador for the Raisin Hope Foundation International, (Dutch site) to help in the fight against traumatic brain injury. Is your indoor bike collecting more dust than mileage? You're not alone! Recapture that same feeling you had the day you brought your indoor trainer home.

Yes, other companies have probably told you the same thing. But, Turbo Crank isn't like all the others. Turbo Crank's secret? Geography, eh!

Being from Canada, I have no choice but to bike indoors for 6 months out of the year (I tried but my tires kept icing up and heated rims haven't been invented yet). I mean, can you imagine an entire HALF YEAR of watching the same training DVD over and over again? There's only so much one person can endure.

So, before losing my sanity, I decided to engineer a product that would challenge, motivate and keep users interested! Introducing Turbo Crank, the program you can simply download and play on your computer, not your TV.

Gone are the days of having to sacrifice your TV for your workout. With Turbo Crank , all you need is a PC or Mac, which means you can still watch your favourite shows, catch up on the news or pop in a movie. Another advantage, this program keeps you on target by letting you know exactly where you should be, which gear you should be in and the amount of effort you should be exerting.

So instead of watching a workout DVD featuring some guy riding a bike... watch something that actually keeps you interested!

The Set Up

Turbo Crank doesn't come installed with music. Why? I personally like a good polka, but figured this may not appeal to everyone. Instead, I thought it would best to allow you to choose what type of music you like to sweat to. Added bonus, not including music keeps the cost down.

  • Place your computer/netbook near your bike setup.
  • Launch Itunes (create a playlist long enough to last the entire workout).
  • Launch Turbo Crank.
  • Select your workout.
  • Start pedaling.

It's that simple!
